Anna McClaugherty is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2012 with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since then she has worked in residential, community and private practice settings. Anna enjoys working with adolescents and teens, emerging adults, individuals with disordered eating, and couples. Additionally, Anna specializes in working with members of the LGBTQQ2SIAP+ communities, survivors of trauma, individuals facing life transitions, (including chronic medical conditions), and mood disorders.
Anna has trained extensively through the somatic lens, using a variety of body-centered psychotherapy models including Somatic Experiencing® and Embodied Recovery to help clients develop resilience, regulate stress, and move beyond trauma. Anna’s uses everything from weighted blankets, to movement, to mandala making to help clients access their innate capacity for healing and creativity. Anna further utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), creative expression, and mindfulness in her clinical work. Anna is particularly passionate about working with adolescents and adults with eating disorders, and works from an intuitive eating and Health At Every Size (HAES) approach.
Above all Anna believes that we heal through relationship, and she aims to create a safe, empowering space for that to occur with each client she sees.
