Laurie is a Licensed Assistant Counselor (LAC) who holds a Masters in Mental Health Counseling and supports adults, teens, and couples to navigate life's  challenges. Laurie provides a nonjudgmental, supportive, and focused space to look at issues causing you distress and help gain understanding of what you want for your life. Her clinical work has included practicums at: community mental health clinics, a support organization for those with cancer/grief, and private practice, along with training and certifications in poetry/journal therapy, EMDR, trauma -informed care and mindfulness practices. As a former nurse, she has expertise in working with those affected by medical issues, especially chronic diseases. She has regularly experienced clients' courageous journey through suffering to self-awareness and self- empowerment. She tunes-in to where clients are with careful listening and appreciation for the truth of their unique situation, strengths, and values.

Many of us relate to ourselves and others with a feeling we are not enough. We can be our own harshest critics. Through our work together it is possible to shift these harmful narratives and imagine new possibilities and ways of being in the world that feel more true to you. Laurie assists clients to disentangle thoughts, identify/clarify feelings to connect with a sense of their true selves that foster well-being, creativity, and resilience.

Laurie's practice is anchored in traditional healing methods of psychotherapy, such as person-centered, CBT and also includes more non-traditional approaches of art-making, writing, and nature connection as part of the healing process to help depression, anxiety, grief, stress, disconnection, isolation, and relationship difficulties. Together, we will help you find the path to become more connected to yourself and your life. The therapeutic relationship is, in itself, a powerful means of connection and healing, and she is dedicated to create relationships of trust, warmth, consistency, and respect.

She works with 18+ and is passionate about working with seniors.

She accepts BCBS, United Health Care, and Private Pay.
